ROSA
Naples 1615 - Rome 1673
Jason and the Dragon
|
Etching with drypoint 336x218 mm. Only state. Signed "Rosa", in etching, on a plaque at the lower left. A painting in Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is closely related to the etching but has a somewhat different composition. It was almost certainly done after the etching.
A very good impression printed with tone. With narrow margins around the distinct platemark. In excellent condition. Watermark (partially visible): quadrupeded in circle (?). A collector's monogram "JFB" not listed in Lugt on the verso.
